How long will Pro endpoints continue to function

A fair number of endpoints, especially /accounts and /fills and their children, are used not just for trading but also for things like taxes.
Can we get a schedule of how long we will have access to the various features and rest api enpoints of Pro, as well as assurance that these sorts of considerations wont be overlooked due to haste?

Hello @Urza! Coinbase Pro will be fully sunsetted early next year. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a definite schedule on how long you will have access to various features and endpoints on Coinbase Pro. We will provide sufficient time for existing users to migrate to the new trading API (Advance Trade API) before we sunset the Coinbase Pro API, and Coinbase Pro will continue to be available for set up and trading for those clients that still use the service.

Additionally, we have launched a new trading API which is Advance Trade API that supports programmatic trading and order management with a REST API and WebSocket protocol for real-time market data. However, please do note that this API is still in beta and the team is still hard at work in completing it. You may check this documentation to know more about this.

You may also start migrating from Pro to Advance Trade API by following the steps provided on this documentation. Please visit the FAQ section of the Advanced Trade API (beta) documentation to check if there is information that could be useful for you.

With regard to /accounts and /fills endpoint, these endpoints are also available on Advance Trade API. You may reference it here.

We hope this helps and we appreciate your patience and understanding.

… but using those endpoints with the new advance keys wont call our trades and other transactions that we made using our Pro accounts and keys.

You think the IRS will just go away if we tell them our old keys dont work anymore?

Hello @Urza! We understand your concern about the sunsetting of Coinbase Pro and your need for the /accounts and /fills endpoint to your transactions. But unfortunately, as stated by @Lioness above, we don’t have an exact date yet on when Coinbase Pro will be fully sunsetted as the team is still currently hard at work on completing its counterpart which is the Advance Trade.

What we can recommend is that you download your transaction history so you have a copy of the transactions you made on Coinbase Pro. You may download your transaction history via the website Coinbase Pro | Digital Asset Exchange or via the API Get all reports

Additionally, you may visit this help center link that contains information regarding tax report and transactions history: https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/taxes-reports-and-financial-services/taxes/coinbase-tax-resource-center.

We hope this helps!

I personally already backup much of this info to both local and cloud databases and planned to copy the rest during migration. However probably the majority of your users -dont- do this and rely on 3rd party tools that use their api keys to process data after the fact.
With probably at least hundreds of thousands of pro users, if you deprecate pro endpoints “early” next year you’re going to create an immense headache that will hit the fan in April.

Hello @Urza! Thank you for patiently waiting. We now have updates from the appropriate team regarding your concern. As of this moment, what can we only say that in early 2023, Coinbase Pro will be fully sunsetted. However, we can give you assurance that before the Coinbase Pro will be discontinued, Coinbase will let all users first migrate their accounts and have their backups just like what you did. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Hi guys, I would like to ask a few questions to ensure I fully understand this since it’s not 100% clear to me after reading through the documentation and all previous announcements.

  1. Coinbase Pro history (deposits, withdrawals, orders, fills, etc.) will not be available from SIWC or Advanced Trade API? The same applies after the user’s account is migrated and CB Pro API is fully sunsetted.
  2. If the above is true, what will the available options be for retrieving the complete history from CB Pro after CB Pro is sunsetted? For example, will you offer the possibility to export the history as a CSV file from Coinbase?

I’m asking about this because retrieving the Coinbase Pro history after sunsetting is critical for tax calculations. As OP also said, you can’t expect all users to log in and take backups using the CSV export on CB Pro before this month’s end.

Thanks in advance!

Hello @cryptovkng! Welcome to the forum! With regard to your concern about Coinbase Pro history (deposits, withdrawals, orders, fills, etc.), you may use the List Transactions (for deposits and withdrawals), List Orders (for orders), and List Fills (for fills). If you want to see other Coinbase Pro endpoints and their equivalents to Advanced Trade and Sign in with Coinbase, you may refer to this link: Pro API Mapping.

Furthermore, you may even try to generate a transaction history report (either in CSV or PDF) by going to this link: https://www.coinbase.com/reports.

We hope we were able to help you regarding your concerns. Please do not hesitate to reply to this thread if you have any other inquiries in mind. Thank you!

This doesnt, as far as I can tell, address the relevant concern. The api references you provided are all material only to the new Advanced api and its accounts. Afaik you cannot use the advanced api endpoints, nor advanced api account keys, to access order, fill, or other transaction histories of Pro accounts.

The only other link you provided, the coinbase reports page, segregates reports from vanilla Coinbase and Pro, they’re separate, and the resource it provides to generate reports for pro is just a link to Pro itself, which wont exist soon.

Please, explain how this addresses @cryptovkng or their concerns.

Hi @Urza! We appreciate your time in pointing out our response about @cryptovkng’s concerns. Related to this, we would like first to apologize if we have missed providing the specific answers to @cryptovkng’s queries about Coinbase Pro and its migration. Now, moving forward to addressing the said concerns, we have itemized our answers to ensure that we have accurately addressed it this time:

  • Coinbase Pro history (deposits, withdrawals, orders, fills, etc.) will not be available from SIWC or Advanced Trade API? The same applies after the user’s account is migrated and CB Pro API is fully sunsetted.

    • Our answer to this is yes, it will not be available. Neither Sign In with Coinbase or Advanced Trade API endpoints will have access to information related to the user’s Coinbase Pro account. Essentially, Coinbase Pro API keys cannot be used in the new Advanced Trade APIs and users need to generate new API keys for the Advanced Trade platform. Hence, we would like to emphasize that as Coinbase Pro (including all its APIs) will be sunsetted this year, after all users have migrated to the new Advanced Trade, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to access any of the Coinbase Pro APIs by the time this happens. What we can assure as of now is that Coinbase Pro will remain accessible before this time, but with very limited functional endpoints such that API keys are only left with “View” permissions. Meaning, only API endpoints that are tied to a “View” permission scope are still accessible and others may already be not accessible since they are already affected by the migration. As you may notice, the Coinbase Pro dashboard now has a status of “Partially Degraded” service.
  • If the above is true, what will the available options be for retrieving the complete history from CB Pro after CB Pro is sunsetted? For example, will you offer the possibility to export the history as a CSV file from Coinbase? I’m asking about this because retrieving the Coinbase Pro history after sunsetting is critical for tax calculations. As OP also said, you can’t expect all users to log in and take backups using the CSV export on CB Pro before this month’s end.

    • As part of what was mentioned here, customers can access their transaction history until the end of 2023 by signing into their Coinbase Pro account and visiting the statements section. Hence, we really highly encourage our customers to do whatever there is still left to do with their accounts before Coinbase Pro is fully sunsetted so as to minimize any impact that this sunsetting may bring to their accounts. To read more about this migration, you may refer to this FAQ page and this help center article.

We hope that we are now able to provide clarity with your concerns. Please do not hesitate to reply back to this thread if you still have queries.

Thank you and have a great day! :sunny:
